Upholding the Highest Industry Standards

Food safety is a top priority.
At terra freska, we strictly follow a range of Canadian regulations, including those from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Canadian Plant Protection Act, and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR). We also implement best practices such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Handling Practices (GHP), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) to ensure the safety and quality of all our products.

Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)

The Global Food Safety Initiative is a business-driven effort focused on the ongoing improvement of food safety management systems, ensuring the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide.

GFSI aims to:

  • Provide an international platform for stakeholders to collaborate, share knowledge, and network.

  • Strengthen food safety capacity and build competencies, creating more consistent and effective global food systems.

  • Promote equivalence and convergence between food safety management systems to reduce risks.

  • Enhance operational efficiency and eliminate redundancy, helping to manage costs within the global food system.

Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 V6.0

The FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification offers a structured framework for managing your organization’s food safety responsibilities. Fully recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), it is built on established ISO Standards, including ISO 22000, "Requirements for any organization in the food chain."

This certification showcases that your company has a strong Food Safety Management System in place, meeting both customer and consumer requirements.

Canadian Organic Regime

The COR is a non-traditional framework under the CFIA. The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) establish a federal program for regulating Canadian organic products. Designed to complement the existing system of domestic accreditation and certification, the COR ensures consistent standards for organic products.

The CFIA is the governing authority overseeing the COR, which regulates the use of the Canada Organic Logo. The CFIA partners with Conformity Verification Bodies (CVBs) that meet the criteria outlined by the SFCR and CFIA. These CVBs are designated by the CFIA to assess, recommend for accreditation, and monitor Certification Bodies (CBs) that meet the necessary accreditation standards set by the SFCR.
